Day 1: Arrival in Santiago

Meet our local guide, and tour the city, including views from 880 meter Cerro San Cristobal.Enjoy our first taste of Chilean foods and wines at Santiago’s historic marketplace.Overnight at a quality hotel.

Day 2: Colchagua Valley Vineyards

Colchagua Valley Vineyards, We visit two top wineries for tasting and an Outdoor lunch. In the afternoon we make an Easy hiking trip to an overlook with a greatview. Overnight at our hotel in Santa Cruz.

Day 3: Termas de Chillán

With a privileged location in the mythical Andes, Termas de Chillán offers spectacular hiking opportunities. Commune with nature and enjoy unsurpassed scenic beauty on an excursion through ancient native forests. Our hike takes us uphill to reach natural hot springs with great view to the volcano Chillán. (Walking hours: 4) Dinner and overnight at a Hotel Pirigallo (Termas de Chillan)

Day 4: Volcano and Lake Villarica

We drive to the resort town of Pucon, overlooking Lake Villarica and at the foot of Volcano Villarica. We tour the village by foot before dinner, with overnight in a new hotel.

Day 5: National Park Huerquehue

Our hike today takes us into dense forests, past rushing waterfalls to tranquil lakes and stands of araucaria (monkey-puzzle) trees. (Hiking 5 hours, 1800 ft gain.) End the day with swimming in natural hot springs before returning to our hotel in Pucon.

Day 6: Valdivia and Frutillar

We visit the lively riverside market at Valdivia, continuing on to Frutillar, the resort town known for its well preserved German architecture. At the Forest Reserve Edmundo Winkler, managed by the Universidad de Chile, we follow a trail identifying the native trees. Overnight at Puerto Varas.

Day 7: National Park Vicente Perez Rosales

National Park Vicente Perez Rosales is known for its great variety of birds and wildlife. We visit the booming waterfall Petrohue, and hike to the snow line of 8730-ft Volcano Osorno. On our way we pass small farms dating from before the land became a park. We reach Reguio La Burbuja, a refuge made from a lava bubble. (4 hours RT hiking, 1000 ft gain) Return to Puerto Varas on Lake Llanquihue.

Day 8: Straits of Magellan

We take a morning LanChile Airlines flight from Puerto Montt to Punta Arenas.,Visit the historical sites Punta Hambre (Port Famine), the outpost founded for Spain in 1584, and Fort Bulnes, now restored since its establishment for Chile in 1843. Overnight at Punta Arenas.

Day 9: Penguins and Fjord Ultima Esperanza

In the morning visit to an interested museum about history of Patagonia and Fireland and then visit Seno Otway, with over 6000 breeding pairs of Magellanic penguins. Overnight at Puerto Natales, on the Fjord Ultima Esperanza (Last Hope).

Day 10: Glaciers Serrano and Balmaceda

We join a boat tour on the fjord, passing by numerous glaciers and waterfalls, a large cormorant rookery, condor cliffs, and sea lion colony. A short hike takes us to the base of Glacier Serrano in Monte Balmaceda National Park.

Day 11: Milodon Cave and Glacier Grey

At the end of the past century, the remains of a prehistoric Milodon, a giant sloth, were found in the 200 meter deep Milodon Cave. You can walk into the cave and look back to see the silhouette of a life-size Milodon replica guarding the entrance to the cave that was its refuge thousands of years ago. At Lago Grey we can see huge icebergs that have broken off of Glacier Grey, floating in the lake, and pushed by the wind. Overnight in a Hosteria in the National park.

Day 12: National Park Torres del Paine

We hike to the foot of the impressive granite massif of El Paine The trail goes steeply uphill for about 1.5 hours, reaching the Chileno shelter at approximately 1700 ft. The trail continues through rough boulders up to an amazing viewpoint. (6.25 miles, 3100 ft, 7 hrs RT). In the afternoon return trip to Puerto Natales. Overnight at Puerto Natales, on the Fjord Ultima Esperanza (Last Hope)

Day 13: Santiago

Drive during the morning to Punta Arenas and flight from Punta Arenas to Santiago. This is our final day for shopping and exploring the city. New Year’s Eve dinner and celebration.

Day 14: Santiago - Home

After breakfast, transfer to the international airport. End of tour.
